Joel’s Jottings
May is a busy month!
When you look at the church calendar you will see so much activity. Some of it includes:- the Youth Yard Sale and Auction, May 2-3
- the Session retreat, May 8-9
- Godspell, Jr. dinner, May 16-17,
- Sunday School teacher appreciation, May 17, and
- a host of graduations from high school, college, graduate school and seminary.
The Session retreat will be a gathering for the benefit of all as the Session, the elected leadership of the church, thinks about the opportunities and challenges before us as a congregation.
The Youth and Children’s production of Godspell, Jr. is way to enjoy the talents of our own – and a way of sharing that with the community of family, friends and neighbors. Not to mention that each time we come to church and share in such a “performance” we are pleasing God by sharing what we have.
And as families and individuals mark milestones of transition with degrees, it is also a way of measuring the growth and development of the larger church family. These “children” have been nurtured and hosted within the faith community. It is an opportunity to give thanks for what has happened – and a chance to be hopeful for what will come.
Yes, May is a busy month! I hope that you will experience this “busy-ness” as a thickening agent for vitality – individually and congregationally.
Grace, Peace & Thanks,
Joel
