Stewardship Dedication – November 8
How do I decide what to give?
Is that a question about time, talent or money?
Yes!
Each of us has to decide how we are to use the things that we have available to us amidst a variety of competing requests, even demands. During fall a number of organizations, causes and schools hold a variety of fund raising events. And so does the church.
You have probably been involved in one of these. So what makes the causes of other worthwhile organizations and the the ministry of the Church different?
In a nutshell the difference is this – the church is the “community” to which we keep returning to answer the question posed in the book of Micah – “What does the Lord require? But to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.
The church cannot do all the things that need to be done. Yet the church is a place to connect and center those things we do as individuals into a body that acts with more power than any one of us can do together.
Our stewardship is a matter of sharing what we have – our time, our talent and our money. And we have to decide how to allocate them – for the church and for all the other causes we receive requests from.
This coming Sunday, November 8,2009 is Stewardship Dedication Sunday at North Decatur Presbyterian Church. You will have an opportunity to bring your Time and Talent sheets and your pledge cards to worship and place and make them your offering to God.
Both the sheets and the cards represent something that you have that you will share. As you reflect on what you have to share and how you will do that know that God honors all gifts.
Come, let us worship together and share the blessings that we have so that others may know the blessings of God as well!
