2019 Commitment

For Such A Time As This

Powering the ministry of NDPC

 September 24, 2018

Who knows whether it is not for such a time as this that you have come to royal estate? (Book of Esther 4:14)

Dear Church Family,

The time has come: our annual opportunity to reassess all the ways we give to the life and ministry of NDPC. For each of us in different ways, North Decatur Presbyterian Church has been a place that has fostered core values of love, compassion, and justice in a world that feels resistant and often antagonistic to living these fundamental truths. These values form the center of our identity as individual children of God and as a community known as the “body of Christ.” In such a time as this, where divisiveness, brutality, and domination persist, we must find strength in each other’s kindness, faith and courage. Our action in the world must continue. Our hope must flourish. Our wisdom and our investment in the next generation deepen. Our honor for our elders and our compassion for the vulnerable strengthen our shared vision. Our care for creation must be cultivated. Our voices speak truth together.

Today we ask you to consider that at such a time as this, the things we are doing as a community of faith are making a profound and life-giving impact on our individual lives and on the lives of those around us.

Now, in order to shine our light as bright as this time necessitates, we need the resources, both financial and corporeal, to fuel the flame. And so we ask you to consider the impact we can make in this time of too much meanness and too much despair. With God’s help and with our offerings, we are truly making a difference, day by day, year by year.

First of all, pause and pray. Give thanks for the many gifts you have received from God. Ask God for guidance in how you, as a member of this community of faith, can most faithfully contribute our ministry.

Our Giving Guide can help you decide how much to contribute.
