The Gender of God

It’s Pride Weekend in Atlanta (10/13 & 14). NDPC will be celebrating along with many other welcoming, inclusive faith communities. NDPC volunteers will be hosting a booth at the festival on Saturday and Sunday and a group from the church will be marching in the parade together on Sunday. We hope to see you there!

In worship on Sunday, we will explore God’s gender. Is there a problem with calling God “he” or “Father?” What do you make of the Bible’s feminine images for God? Why does NDPC insist that the earthly Jesus is a “he” but that the resurrected “Christ” is neither male nor female? An accurate testimony of the God in Scripture suggests that God’s own gender is both ambiguous and non-binary. Theology matters: it establishes how we understand the full range of gender expression in our workplaces, schools, and families.
