Joyful Generosity 2018

Annual Stewardship Campaign

October, 2017

Dear Friends,

We have before us a very special opportunity: to make our annual commitment to help power the ministry of North Decatur Presbyterian Church. As we get ready to join hearts and hands to do this, let’s consider what it all means.

Everything we HAVE comes from God

The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it.
(Psalm 24:1)

As people of faith, we learn that our homes, our possessions, our livelihoods – everything we own – ultimately comes from God and belongs to God. As a church, the work we do, the places where we worship, learn, and become a family of faith, all belong to God. And yet God has lovingly given them all to us.

Everything we ARE comes from God

It is God who made us and we belong to God! (Psalm 100:3)
I have called you by name, and you are mine! (Isaiah 43:1)

Whatever qualities we may possess – wisdom, courage, passion, perseverance, basic kindness – and whoever we may have become – a parent, a friend, a teacher, a scientist, a skilled professional, a singer, a poet, a prophet – all these are gifts from God, given to us to build God’s household.

Everything we DO comes from God

Jesus said, “As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.” (John 17:18)

We have been called together to be the household of God known as NDPC. Here, we are welcomed, nourished, enriched, comforted, inspired and empowered. From here we are sent out by God into our community and into the wider world to share the love of God: bringing comfort, proclaiming hope, and offering a helping hand. All these opportunities are gifts from God.

Responding with hope and faith

We serve a generous God, and we have been generous in our response year after year. There is a wonderful momentum here. Let us express our hope for the world and our faith in God by prayerfully considering the time, talents, and financial resources we will commit for the coming year.
