Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
We are glad that your journey of faith has led you to North Decatur Presbyterian Church. It is our experience that churches can be places of healing and joyful living. NDPC’s members will tell you that they gain a deeper appreciation for life by their participation in this community. Our church helps us make sense of the world, and to love the world more fully. We hope you will find that these things are true for you, too.
People ask, “what kind of church is NDPC?” We are a theologically-progressive church that works toward a holy vision of social justice. We celebrate our LGBTQI members, affirming that our collective faith is strengthened by their witness. We actively engage with the Bible–studying it, contemplating it, finding solace in it, and sometimes wrestling with it. We love Jesus, and take at face value the command to love our neighbors, be they lonely, impoverished, seeking refuge, imprisoned. We take our faith seriously, though not always ourselves. Of course, the best way to find out what kind of church we are is to come on Sunday, sit in the pew, meet folks, and see what you think.
If you have questions about NDPC or its ministries after visiting this website, please reach out to us. We encourage you to participate in one of our Inquirer’s Classes during which you will learn about NDPC and the Presbyterian Church USA, and reflect on the Christian faith, the role of Christ’s church in the world, and your own life in God.
Grace and peace,
Revs. David and Beth, co-pastors
