The nursery is available every Sunday for children birth through 3 years old from 8:30AM-- 12:30PM. The nursery is located in the 2nd floor connector, closest to the sanctuary. When you drop your child off, you will receive a bracelet. You will need your bracelet to pick your child up from the nursery.
Children who are toddlers under 3 years old may attend the Walkers' Church School class at 9:45. Please drop your child off by 9:45 in the nursery. If they are staying in the nursery during 11:00 Worship, please let the teachers know and they'll give you a bracelet.
Children who are 3 and 4 and not in Kindergarten yet will be in our Pre-K class. This class meets in the classroom at the end of the Education Wing Hall (closest to the rear playground). Please drop children off by 9:45 in the Pre-K classroom, and pick them up at 10:35.
KINDERGARTEN through FIFTH GRADE
Our grade-school classes meet in the "Gathering Room" in the middle of the 2nd floor Education Wing at 9:45. Please help your child find their name tag in the hall and walk them to the Gathering Room. From there, they will divide into grade level groups (Kindergarten & First, Second & Third, and Fourth & Fifth). We spend 3 weeks on each Bible story, and the children will experience the story three different ways. At 10:35, the children will meet back in the Gathering Room to share in a snack. You will pick your child up from the Gathering Room by 10:45. Any children who are not picked up by 10:45 will be walked down to the first row of the sanctuary for singing.
Worship & Wonder
After the Word in Worship (children's message) in the 11:00 worship service, children ages 4 through third grade are invited to leave with the leader to go to Worship & Wonder (W&W room is the first classroom on the right in the Education Wing). This is our Montessori-based worship experience for children. Children will hear a story, have time to creatively respond to the story, and will share in a Feast together. Children must be picked up from the W&W room by an adult.
Statement About Children in Worship
Children belong in worship. Not just to sit and be quiet and listen, but to contribute, to lead, to be squirmy and sometimes cry, to wonder, to sing–to be themselves. Children are welcome at all NDPC worship services. At the early service, kids sit with their adults. There are worship-friendly activities available from the kids’ kiosk near the sanctuary entrance. At the 11AM service, kids come forward after the passing of the peace for a special children’s time. Kids ages 4 - 3rd grade then leave together for a time of Worship & Wonder together.
