Memorial Drive Ministries (MDM) Summer ’21 Updates

Thanks to the NDPC volunteers (Dee Raeside, Janelle Moore, Jean Are, Lou Reaves (a frequent NDPC visitor), and Fran Mohr for assisting with MDM’s successful school supply drive. Thanks also to those who donated supplies. The donated crayons, notebooks, glue sticks and other school items will benefit many children served by two of MDM’s onsite partners: Refugee Family Literacy, Shalom International Ministry’s Children’s Ministry and Inspire After-School programs.

A Big Prayer Request
In mid-June, MDM had a fire in the kitchen of the Donnell Building which houses MDM’s office,
the pastors’ offices of the onsite partner churches (Shalom International Ministry, Zo Presbyterian, and Mara Community Church); the classrooms of Shalom’s Children’s Ministry
and Inspire programs and Solid Foundation Christian Academy; and the main fellowship hall
used by numerous groups.

Thankfully, the fire only destroyed the kitchen space, but the remainder of the building’s interior space and contents were damaged heavily by smoke and water. We also are grateful no one was hurt. Restoration work continues which we hope will be completed by the end of July. Then comes the arduous task of discerning what contents from furniture to books can be cleaned properly or must be discarded.

Your prayers are needed as MDM faces this unexpected challenge and expense. Especially keep
MDM’s Executive Director, David Roth, in your thoughts and prayers as he navigates this
process. We extend prayers of gratitude for the assistance and support of the Presbytery of
Greater Atlanta staff.
