Jesus as a Young Adult

Worship is led by NDPC’s young adults, as we interpret and reflect on the way the Sermon on the Mount shapes our own understanding of life in and with God.

About the series

Have you ever thought of Jesus as a young adult? It’s true that a 30 year-old in Jesus’ time isn’t the same as a 30 year-old today–he was comparatively older. But there is something for all of us learn in by seeing Jesus as a young man, a person in formation. How did Jesus “become himself?” What did he choose to prioritize in his life? What did he reject as unimportant? Our lives–at every phase–are comprised by the same choices: to pick up or put down, to go with the crowd or go off on your own, to say yes or say no.

Over the last six weeks in worship, we studied Jesus’ most remarkable sermon: the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5 – 7). The services have been shaped by young adults at NDPC over the course of the fall, so you will hear and see their lives and their concerns in our worship. You will learn about what it feels like to be a young adult today–to enter through the “narrow gate that leads to life”–and you will see your own life reflected in Jesus’ most graceful and challenging instructions.
