There is something special about singing our psalms, hymns and spiritual songs – St. Augustine said it very well, in his Commentary on Psalm 73, v. 1, which I’ve taken the liberty of updating in more contemporary language: “For they that sing praise, not only praise, but also praise with gladness: they that sing praise, not only sing, but also love God of whom they sing.
