It’s the end of summer in Decatur. For many people–especially families–August is a time of transition. Vacations are over and school is beginning. Life takes on a whole new rhythm.
It’s a great time to come “back to church” at NDPC. We don’t start Sunday School until Sunday, September 8th, but we welcome families, kids (and their adults) to get back into the church flow. We will see many of you for Sunday School registration on 8/11. Here’s a look at the August schedule:
- Sunday, August 11th (11AM – noon): Parent Orientation and Church School Registration for All Children & Youth Programs (including music); all parents and children should plan to stay after worship to meet CYF Director Rev. Dr. Erin Reed Cooper. Parents will learn about the programs in the Fellowship Hall, children (preK – 5th grade) and youth (6th – 12th grade) will meet Sunday School teachers and Music Director Huu Mai to learn about Children’s Choir and Youth Band.
- Sunday, August 18th (11AM – noon): Volunteer Fair (and Cookie Bake-off) – NDPC’s many ministries and community outreach programs will have representatives on hand to introduce you to their dozens of volunteer opportunities. Are you looking for a way to serve? You’ll find it! And most importantly, whose cookie will emerge victorious?
- Sunday, August 25th (11AM – 1PM): Spruce Up the Church – wear your work clothes to church because we’ll stay afterward to clean, paint, and polish; there will be something for all ages and abilities to do!
- Sunday, September 8th: Homecoming Sunday & Potluck Lunch; Early Worship resumes at 8:45AM, Church School Launch for All Ages at 9:45AM, Worship at 11AM, Pot-Luck Lunch to follow.
