Making Room for the Real Jesus

All of us have to figure out for ourselves who Jesus is to us. Howard Thurman grew up as a Christian and had a relationship with Jesus. But it wasn’t an “easy” relationship. It took a trip to India for Thurman to meet the “real” Jesus. Thurman’s understanding of Jesus shaped his attitude toward personal and social transformation–Thurman’s Jesus was the spiritual heart of the American Civil Rights Movement.
